SAILORPC-12A Wins the Control Engineering 2010 Engineers' Choice Award
The SAILORPC-12A has won the "Integrated HMI – Controller" category of the 2010 Engineers' Choice Awards. The fully waterproof PC boasts a 12.1 inch screen and IP67 compliance, making it the ultimate all-weather computer.
The Engineers' Choice Awards is an annual contest highlighting the best new and significantly modified products to hit the North American market in the preceding year. Entries for this esteemed competition come from some of the hardest hitters in industrial electronics sector including Honeywell, Siemens, Rockwell and Eaton. The winners are selected by Control Engineering members through an online ballot.
Control Engineering's Editorial Director David Greenfield had this to say about the win, "With more than 600 votes cast in the Engineers’ Choice Awards this year, all entries across the 29 product categories were exposed to an array of voting engineers’ scrutiny. There are two models in the SAILOR series. Both models feature a 12.1 inch screen with touch panel for maximum ease of use and tough aluminum construction to resist all knocks and bumps. All models are IP67 compliant. The SAILORPC-12ASR also features a sunlight readable screen so the images on the screen are still viewable when installed in areas with bright light.
Dust, water, and other corrosive materials can be very destructive over time. The fully sealed IP67 (NEMA6) compliant aluminum chassis and LCD touch panel of the SAILORPC-12A are designed for high reliability, providing shock, vibration and extreme temperature tolerance in the harshest environments. IEI strictly adheres to UL Test Data Program (TDP), IP67 (1 meter of submersion for 30 minutes), and NEMA6 standard testing procedures. IP67/NEMA6 compliance ensures full waterproof protection including the aluminum housing, touch panel, connectors and optional cables.
The SAILORPC-12A features a fanless, low voltage 1.6 MHz Intel® Atom™ processor with up to 2.0 GB of 533 MHz DDR2 memory. A rugged die-cast aluminum enclosure helps to dissipate heat thereby reducing overheating and eliminating the need for a fan. The high speed 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi module and internal antenna provide broadband-speed browsing and uninterrupted wireless connectivity. A 2.5” SATA HDD bay and Compact Flash® II slot offer a choice of storage options. IEI offers flexible OS options including Windows CE 6.0, Windows XP Embedded, and Linux.
The SAILORPC-12A uses reliable self-locking, threaded M12 connectors for all connections including LAN, RS-232, selectable RS-232/422/485, CAN bus and audio, (2) USB and 9~28V DC power adaptor connections. The SAILORPC-12A is equipped with an automotive applied CAN-Bus interface. The Control Area Network (CAN) is a serial bus system originally developed by Bosch for use in automobiles but is now increasingly being used for control in industrial and automotive applications.
The standard SAILORPC-12A includes a 400 cd/m2 brightness 12.1 inch TFT LCD touch panel. A built-in 4 range ambient light sensor automatically detects the amount of light and adjusts the brightness of the screen to save system power and reduce user eye strain. The SAILORPC-12ASR adds Anti-Reflection (AR) technology and improved luminance through edge lighting to achieve super high brightness of up to 1000 cd/m2 and higher contrast of 700:1 ensuring excellent visibility in bright daylight or marine conditions.

iEZman and One Key Recovery: Combining the Power of Remote KVM Control, System Recovery and Backup Management
Blue Screen of Death. And you are 500 miles away. This is an IT manager's nightmare. What is iEZman?
The IEI iEZman application provides out-of-band KVM function allowing full control of keyboard, mouse and viewing the video output on the remote system through the hardware-based Intel® Active Management Technology 6.0. The video output on the remote system is always viewable even when there is a BSoD (blue screen of death) or missing disk.
iEZman allows a remote user, such as a support person, to remotely control and perform administrative tasks through a graphical user interface in Windows. The IEI KINO-QM57A is based on the 32nm Intel® Core™ i7/i5 processor and supports two DDR III SO-DIMM memory modules up to 8GB. The Mobile Intel® QM57 Express chipset allows the playback and transmission of high quality video. The chipset includes embedded Gigabit Ethernet capabilities. The KINO-QM57A has an integrated graphics engine to support up to 1080p HD video playback, and the on board Intel® 82577LM GbE LAN controller offer high-speed network transmission rates. The display output interfaces include two HDMI ports, a VGA port and 18/24-bit dual channel LVDS option. The onboard graphics can support two grouped video signals on two sets of displays, or the same signal broadcast over all three outputs.
